I am a windows developer and honestly I have not worked much with linux, Currently I have installed OpenSuse 10.3 and It seems to have issues as previous distros I used to work with (Like Fedora).
So I decided to write my opinion about linux (in comparison to windows).
First of all, the user interface is really poor, Although there are background images, icons, screen savers and themes but they are far behind windows. It’s not really easy for a newbie.
Also installation is a nightmare, there are 200,000,000 
packages that should be installed when installing linux, this is not a good way, It’d be better to group similar packages and let the user not see the exact file which is being installed (I know, this is mostly a UI issue).
Booting-up and shutting-down in Linux is another weak point IMHO. I really do not want to know that currently Linux is waiting for DHCP server or it is changing its runlevel, It’d be great t
